Hi, I’m Kristie Stumpf Rork, and I’m running for Town Clerk here in Cape Vincent. I’ve lived, worked, and volunteered in this community for years, and I’d be honored to serve you in this essential role that keeps our town running smoothly and transparently.
As someone who’s worked behind the scenes on so many events and initiatives in Cape Vincent - from parades to community projects - I understand the heart of this town. I know how to get things done while treating people with kindness and care.
I’d be honored to earn your vote for Town Clerk. If you ever have questions, ideas, or concerns - I’m just a conversation away. Let’s keep Cape Vincent running strong, together.
I’m not just from here - I’m for here. I’m invested in every aspect of Cape Vincent life, and I bring a boots-on-the-ground understanding of what matters to residents.
Whether it’s managing vital records, processing permits, or ensuring meetings are documented correctly, I have the attention to detail and organizational skills this role demands.
I believe our town government should feel approachable and easy to navigate. As Town Clerk, I’ll make sure information is clear, accessible, and timely - for everyone.
Together, we can bring Cape Vincent into a new era of accessibility and transparency. Thank you for believing in me, supporting my family, and supporting my campaign for Town Clerk.
Cape Vincent is home - and there’s nothing I love more than connecting with neighbors. I’d be delighted to meet you in person at one of our local cafés to chat about my goals for the Town Clerk’s office and how I can best serve you.
Please reach me at capevincentstrong@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
My platform is centered on government accessibility and transparency. I want every resident and property owner - whether year-round or seasonal - to be able to access information from the Town offices easily, regardless of office hours. This includes ensuring that paper copies are available in public locations and expanding online access for applications, payments, and information. With my background and skill set, I will ensure that communication from the Clerk’s office is clear, efficient, and available 24/7.
My experience spans customer service, finance, administration, and community leadership. With 10 years at Bank of America, several years leading the Cape Vincent Chamber of Commerce, and extensive work in digital communications and community outreach, I bring both organizational and technical expertise to the Clerk’s office. I am committed to ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and accessibility for all.
I plan to expand both digital and traditional communication. This includes maintaining updated online resources for forms, applications, and payments, while also providing printed materials at accessible community locations. In addition, I look forward to implementing a community outreach initiative for residents who are shut-in, ensuring that those who may not be able to travel still have access to the information and resources they need. My goal is to make information easy to find, easy to understand, and available to everyone.
Seasonal residents are an important part of our community, and I will ensure that information is accessible year-round. By expanding online services and offering clear instructions for remote access, property owners and residents will be able to stay connected and complete necessary forms regardless of where they are located.
I truly appreciate that many residents have had positive experiences with the Clerk’s office, and I recognize that for those who are able to visit during regular office hours, service has been accessible and responsive. However, my platform is designed to serve the entire community - including seasonal residents, those who work 9–5 and cannot easily visit during business hours, and individuals who are homebound or shut-in. Expanding access through both digital resources and community outreach ensures that every resident and property owner, regardless of circumstance, has equal access to information and services. My goal is not to replace what is already working, but to broaden and strengthen accessibility for all.
While I may or may not share awareness of specific concerns, it is important to clarify that if elected as Town Clerk, my role will not be to shape or decide policy. My responsibility will be to educate, inform, and support the decisions made by the Town Board, ensuring residents have full access to accurate and timely information.
It is true that during my time as Executive Director, paperwork and administrative duties were not the primary focus of my role. My position centered on coordinating events, creating and managing social media platforms, supporting small businesses, growing membership, handling tourism and visitor inquiries, and serving as spokesperson for Cape Vincent. Administrative work naturally took a secondary role. However, in my career - including 10 years with Bank of America - administrative duties were central to my responsibilities. As Town Clerk, these functions will be both relative and a top priority, and I am fully prepared to meet them with accuracy and dedication.
I will maintain a professional, business-casual appearance appropriate for the position. I also recognize that some have expressed concerns about my personal style. To address this:
